Dr. Mike Anestis is a licensed clinical psychologist, Executive Director of the New Jersey Gun Violence Research Center, and an Associate Professor in the School of Public Health at Rutgers. His research focuses on suicide prevention in both military and civilian populations, with a particular focus on the role of firearms. He is the author of over 180 peer reviewed scientific articles as well as a book – Guns and Suicide: An American Epidemic – published in 2018 by Oxford University Press. Dr. Anestis was the 2018 recipient of the Edwin Shneidman Award from the American Association of Suicidology in recognition of early career achievement in suicide research.
