Leiana-Mejoi (Joi) is a Research Assistant at the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress. She graduated from Spelman College in May 2018 with a B.A. in Psychology and earned her Master of Arts in Religion from Yale Divinity School. During her time as an undergraduate, Leiana-Mejoi conducted research spanning a range of topics, from identity and academic achievement to cognition and the conscious experience associated with memory. Her thesis addressed the cognitive and social implications of misinformation once it has been incorporated into the mental model. Leiana-Mejoi's research presentations have received both local and national awards, even being recognized by the American Heart Association for novelty and quality. Her personal and professional interests include spirituality, psychology, and art, specifically music, as a medium of healing for trauma. In the future, Leiana-Mejoi will be pursuing her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology.
