John A. Stuart is Director, Information Systems for the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress and serves as Research Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Uniformed Services University, Bethesda Maryland. He has served in these positions since 2000. Prior to year 2000, he served 21 years in the U.S. Army as a Research Psychologist with assignments at the U.S. Army Medical Research and Material Command, Ft. Detrick, Maryland, the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, Washington DC, and U.S. Army Academy of Health Sciences, San Antonio, Texas. He received both Bachelors, Masters from the University of Texas and Ph.D. from New Mexico State University in 1980. Academic background includes majors/minors in Educational Psychology, Research and Biology.
As the Center Director for Information Systems, he is charged with acquisition and maintenance of computer related hardware, software, accessories or any device which promotes knowledge, data processing and retrieval. This includes the Center’s large literature database and extensive research datasets. A staff that includes a Computer Scientist and Research Assistants complete the Center’s Information Systems Team.
Dr. Stuart has published on a variety of stress related research topics covering recent military deployments, stress indicies and measures, and reports in belief to toxic exposures.
