Xian Liu obtained a Ph.D. degree in Sociology from the Populations Studies Center, University of Michigan in 1991. Currently, he is a Research Scientist/Senior Statistician in the Deployment Health Clinical Center at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and an Assistant Professor of Research in the Department of Psychiatry at the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. His research includes the investigation of the relationship between veteran status and mortality in older Americans, transitions in health status, and development of advanced models in social and medical studies. His articles have appeared in many leading journals of various fields. Technical background includes survival analysis, multinomial logit model, multi-level analysis, mathematical simulation, multi-state life tables, survey sampling, and other statistical and demographic techniques. Dr. Liu has served as a PI on a number of research projects from external sources.
